Virtual DJ - does what i want it to.
Although, have had a few moments where 'live' the sound card channel toggle has gone so I can't cue - not the most fun trying to DJ visually for an hour.

yeah that's like the biggest nightmare with laptop DJing - crashing in the middle of a set
I've done some research and even though it's impossible to be crash-proof this is probably as close as it gets-
Serato running on a Macbook pro with a solid state HD. nothing installed on the boot drive except Serato (for everything else I boot off an external drive). I use Itch which only works with specific dedicated soundcards so no problems with incompatibility there.

definetly gonna clean out the laptop i used, for next time.. think that was the biggest problem really, to much things running that have nothing to do with what youre doing.
maybe one day ill have a mac, though i did see macs crash as well at gigs.. they probably didnt do all that though.

Traktor crashed on me the other night, at least it had the courtesy to keep playing the track while I found a cd to put on.
I do get irked by the beat grid with traktor, just wish it was more flexible for older unelectronic tracks.

Oh, here's a thing, I know a popular local dj that djs with Spotify!!? wtf!! Gets good money for it too.

Good luck to him provided he's not trying to beatmatch...

tbh there's not a lot of mixing skill required. What gets my goat is using Spotify to recommend tunes.
